Single parents who are planning to attend the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana are encouraged to prepare now to apply for scholarships through the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund.
The Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance and support services to help eligible single parents pursue college degrees, certificates, professional licenses, and skilled-trade training. The organization was created to help single parent students succeed in school, work, and life while building a more secure future for their families.
Fall scholarship applications will be accepted Aug. 1 through Sept. 1. New and continuing applicants are welcome to apply for fall scholarships. Students must submit applications through the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund’s online application portal by the deadline.
ASPSF scholarships are flexible and may be used to help cover real-life needs that can make going to college difficult, such as child care, gas, car repairs, rent, and other expenses. Scholarship award amounts vary by credit hours, ranging from $400 for students taking 3 to 5 credit hours to $1,600 for students taking 12 or more credit hours.
In addition to scholarship funds, recipients may receive wraparound support such as mentoring, tutoring, career and financial planning, referrals to helpful services, and encouragement from a local support network.
Eligible applicants must meet ASPSF requirements, including single parent status, residency, income, education, and enrollment guidelines. Applicants must be pursuing a degree, certificate, professional license, or approved training program and must be enrolled in at least three college credit hours. Required application documents include proof of marital status, proof of income, FAFSA Submission Summary, transcript, and class schedule.
Registration is open now for Summer II and fall classes at UAHT. Summer II classes begin July 6, and fall classes begin August 19. UAHT offers more than 50 degree and certificate programs, including transfer degrees, career and technical programs, online options, and evening classes designed to help students balance college with work and family responsibilities.
Students interested in enrolling at UAHT can contact the Purtle Advising Center at 870-722-8124, email pac@uaht.edu, or reach out to their advisor. To learn more about UAHT programs and registration, visit uaht.edu.
