How it Works

The UAHT Iron Horse Advantage program is a last-dollar scholarship program that covers tuition, academic fees, and textbook rental costs for eligible students during the first year of college.

  • UAHT will apply the Pell Grant, Arkansas Challenge, and Arkansas Challenge Plus (if eligible) to the tuition and fees.
  • The remaining balance for up to 15 hours of tuition, mandatory fees, and textbook rental will be paid by UAHT.
  • Please note that students enrolled in more than 15 hours or in courses that require additional fees will be responsible for these charges. For a list of additional fees, please visit https://www.uaht.edu/about/tuition.php.

Last Dollar Scholarship

Scholarships will cover the cost of tuition, academic fees, and textbook rental fees after applying for State and Federal financial aid.

What are tuition & fees?

The cost is directly assessed by the college for your academic instruction, coursework, and student services.

What’s considered eligible aid?

Aid considered for your last dollar scholarship application includes federal aid such as FAFSA, State aid, including but not limited to the Arkansas Academic Challenge and Governor’s Scholarship, and institutional aid from academic scholarships. Private scholarships, such as those from the UAHT Foundation, hometown awards, special organizations, and private groups are not included in the last dollar calculation.

Scholarship Stacking Policy
Act 1180 of 1999 prohibits postsecondary institutions from using public funds in a student aid package which exceeds the cost of attendance at that institution. UAHT follows the Arkansas Department of Higher Education regulations by reducing scholarship amounts which cause awards to exceed cost of attendance. Scholarships awarded by UAHT will be reduced before other scholarships. In the absence of direction from private donor, all private funds will be split equally between fall and spring semesters.
