Database: a collection of information that is organized and searchable. Amazon.com is a database of searchable products that you can purchase. The librarys databases organize  online library resources such as academic journals, books, and more.

Journal / journal article: a publication that comes out on a regular basic and contains scholarly research in the form of essays, articles, and reports. Journal articles can be found in databases.

No Online Sources When instructors say "No Online Sources" they are often referring to sources found through Google, Wikipedia, and other similar searches. Do not confuse these with library databases which are technically found online but provide excellent resources, such as scholarly and peer reviewed articles.

Peer review is the evaluation of scientific, academic, or professional work by others working in the same field. Peer reviewed articles can be found in databases .

Scholarly or academic: refers to articles or resources written by experts (or scholars) that are peer reviewed. Scholarly and academic articles can be found in databases by checking the box next to Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals on the databases search screen.

Scholarly articles are written by experts in their fields of study. They have advanced degrees and have studied several years before doing the research and writing the articles. The articles go through the peer-review process, which means other experts with similar education and experience have carefully looked over their research to make sure that it is credible. Using scholarly articles will make your research and papers better. Works Cited page: The works cited page is the last page of an essay or research paper. It provides the list of sources that were used in to write said essay or research paper and enough information for readers to access the sources cited, there.
