Pell Grant


– Year-Round Pell (Referred to as Two Pell Grants in an Award Year in FSA Handbook)

– Academic Year – *Number of hours that a student enrolled full time is expected to complete in a full academic year (24 credit hours)

– Award Year – The award year is July 1 of one year to June 30 of the following year

– Example: July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010

– Defines the timeframe in which students may receive the maximum amount of Pell funds (now two Scheduled Awards) for a given period


– Possible for a student to receive up to two full Scheduled Pell Awards within one Award Year

– Does not permit student to receive awards concurrently at two institutions

Student Eligibility 09/10 Award Year

*First Scheduled Award

– Student otherwise Pell Grant Eligible

– Enrolled in an eligible degree or certificate program (program must be longer than an Academic Year)

– Student otherwise Pell Grant Eligible

– Enrolled at least Half-Time in summer (classes within degree plan)

– Received 100% of 1stScheduledAward (successfully completed 24 credit hours may use a class in the summer to achieve this)
