Are you interested in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace? Whether you are the owner or employee of a private business or work for a public agency, you and your employees can benefit from attending this event. The conference is designed for hourly employees; however, businesses are also encouraged to send members of their safety committee, as well as supervisors and managers with safety responsibilities and others who need basic safety training. Nursing home administrators and nurses may also use this training for continuing education purposes.

The purpose of this conference is to enhance workplace hazard recognition and strengthen a culture of workplace safety, thereby reducing employee injuries and illnesses.

This conference will be held from 7:30 a.m. until 2:40 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the University of Arkansas Community College, 2500 South Main Street, Rapert Library Auditorium in Hope, Arkansas.

The registration fee covers lunch and conference materials. Pre-registration is encouraged due to expenses incurred for meals and materials. Cancellations will be accepted until two days prior to the conference. Substitutions are permitted.

Please register by October 3. A $10 late fee will be applied to all registrations and payments received after that date.

Conference facilities are accessible for individuals with disabilities. Please provide notice with registration if any attendee requires special accommodation to participate.

This presentation will highlight fatalities in Arkansas, penalties; the top ten violations cited by OSHA in general industry and construction, and OSHA’s current emphasis program.

This presentation will address some of the Safety/Health problems facing companies that have an aging workplace.

11:50 – Slips, Trips and Falls
 The cause and effects of slips, trips, and falls from the same level and what can be done to correct the situation.

12:55 – Distractive Driving and Power Industrial Truck Safety
This session will highlight the dangers connected with distractions that can occur while driving, as well as the dangers while operating power industrial trucks.

This presentation will help attendees recognize various types of hazards in the workplace and how to classify and correct them.
