The University of Arkansas Community College at Hope is preparing to honor our Veterans on Monday, November 11th, by hosting several events throughout the day in Hempstead Hall.  The American Legion Post #427 Veterans ceremony will be held in Hempstead Hall at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month with Post Commander Herbert Ross conducting the ceremony.  The American Legion Ceremony attendees will be joined by Hope Community Civic Clubs for lunch and a special program recognizing Veterans. The mid-day activities will conclude with a Veteran’s VIP viewing of the movie “Honor Flight-One Last Mission,” at 1:30p.m.

The community is also invited to join Veterans in Hempstead Hall Monday evening at 6:00 p.m. for a free showing of the “Honor Flight” movie presented by Hospice of Texarkana and Hope.  “Honor Flight-One Last Mission” is a one-of-a-kind experience that began with four living World War II veterans and a community that came together to give our nation’s heros the trip of a lifetime.  Volunteers race against the clock to fly thousands of WWII veterans to Washington, D.C., to see the memorial constructed for them in 2004, nearly 60 years after their epic struggle.  During this documentary, you will laugh and emotions will be stirred as this movie recaps the lives of four of our nation’s heroes.
