The University of Arkansas Community College at Hope chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society welcomed 18 new members during an induction ceremony Sunday, February 5, 2012. Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society in American higher education, with more than 2 million members in 1,200 chapters in all 50 United States. At UACCH, the average age of a new member is 29 and ranges from 18 to 80 years of age. The average Phi Theta Kappa member at UACCH is enrolled full time with a GPA of 3.8.
Sunday’s ceremony held in the Rapert Auditorium included a welcome by UACCH Chancellor Chris Thomason and comments by Phi Theta Kappa President Robert Cook. Other chapter officers include Vice- President of Leadership Angela Ford; Vice-President of Scholarship Kristen Young; Vice-President of Service Rose Adetunji; Secretary/recorder Misty Watkins; Public Relations Austin Lerew; and Project Coordinator, Shawna Cook.
