It has been said many times that it is the faculty, staff, and administration, not the brick and mortar of UACCH, that make the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope a great place to pursue one’s education.  This statement continues to resonate true with the recent announcement that Cindy Lance will be the new Dean of Business Technology.  Lance, who has been a faculty member at the College for over ten years, has deep roots working to make south Arkansas a better place to live and raise a family.

Lance is the daughter of Dr. Wm. C. (Bill) and the late Betty Loe.  She grew up in Magnolia where her dad was head of the Agriculture Department at Southern Arkansas University (SAU) for a number of years.  Dr. Loe instilled in many the desire to improve oneself and the community through education.  Lance furthered her education at SAU where she received her Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Accounting.  She then completed her Master’s of Business Administration in 1999 from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Lance and husband, Steve Lance moved to Hope in 1983.  She began her career in education in 1987 in Hope Public Schools, where she taught until 1998. In January of 1998, Lance began teaching accounting at UACCH. Her role at UACCH has expanded over the years to coordinating the Carl Perkins federally funded grant and serving as the advisor for students pursuing a degree in public school education.

Lance is also active in the community, where she serves as Secretary of the Hope Rotary Club as well as being active in church.  She and Steve are co-owners of Lance and Associates Real Estate where Steve serves as the principal broker and Cindy assists with bookkeeping duties.

As Dean of Business Technology, Lance will oversee the UACCH Business Department which includes several programs of study.  Please congratulate Cindy Lance on her recent promotion at UACCH.  For more information about UACCH, visit our website at www.uacch.edu.
