Today, the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope held the Spring Scholarship Recognition Ceremony to connect scholarship donors with scholarship recipients. This event, which is also held each fall, is a time to reflect on the positive impact scholarships have on students pursuing a higher education. With retention rates of 93% at UACCH for students receiving scholarships, it is evident that students who receive scholarships are sticking with their goal of furthering their education.
The attendees today included donors and recipients who are for the first time being recognized for receiving a scholarship. Many of the scholarships awarded in the fall carry-over into the spring semester and therefore are only included in the fall ceremony. A total of 23 scholarships for the spring semester at UACCH were awarded today. Kristi Robbins, elementary teacher at Beryl Henry and Rotary Teacher of the year, addressed the crowd today sharing her experience of attending UACCH on a scholarship before transferring to Henderson State University to complete her Bachelors Degree in Education.
