The University of Arkansas Community College at Hope Foundation held the 5th Annual Pulling for Education Trap Shoot last Friday at the Rick Evans Conservation Center in Columbus, Arkansas. Sixty shooters came out to exhibit their ability to shoot trap and to fellowship with special guests Congressman Mike Ross, Senator Larry Teague and Representative Bubba Powers.
The event was sponsored by AEP-SWEPCO, Arkansas Farm Bureau, and Southwestern Energy Company. A live auction was held prior to an outstanding hamburger lunch provided by Farm Credit Services. The auction included items from Rothwell Marine, Morris Equipment, Gander Mountain, and SWS Engraving.
The winners of the competition are divided into two flights. Flight 1 winners included first place, Scrapper Trap Team which includes Avery Lamb, Evan Teague, and Taylor Teague, who scored a 126; second place went to the 1st Bank Team 2 which included team members, Philip Gilbey, Steven Mullins, and Steve Powell who scored 119; and third place in the 1st Flight went to South Ark. Electric Team which included team members Chris Townsend, Kurt Hays, and Ross Townsend. They scored a 114. The heated competition continued into the 2nd Flight with first place going to the John Ed Watkins team, second place going to Lance and Associates, and third place going to Bancorpsouth. The two overall high point individual shooters were Taylor Teague and J.D. Wilson.
