The University of Arkansas at Texarkana is pleased to announce that it is currently enrolling students in the new Commercial and Residential Equipment-Maintenance and Repair (CARE) Program.  This program will provide a full-time student in two semesters the knowledge and skills required for entry level employment in the maintenance and repair of commercial and residential facilities.

U of A Texarkana is offering this new program at the request of local employers engaged in the maintenance and repair of schools, hospitals, nursing homes, apartment complexes, office buildings, and other commercial and residential facilities.  This program is divided into three certificates allowing students to complete one program at a time and finish the entire program with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in General Technology.

The College is currently enrolling students for this program that will begin on the Texarkana campus on August 24th in the new Professions Building. Description:
This program aims to assist the student in gaining the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for entry level employment in the maintenance and repair of commercial and residential facilities and their associated mechanical and electrical systems. This degree offers two Certificates of Proficiency (CP) and one Technical Certificate (TC) for those wanting to work as a building maintenance technician, a major appliance repair technician, HVAC repair technician, or a carpenter’s or painter’s helper.

Certificate of Proficiency in Major Appliances
The Certificate of Proficiency in Major Appliances is an employment ready certificate or can be a component of the Associate of Applied Science Degree in General Technology. This option requires ten credit hours of study and qualifies students for entry level facilities maintenance helper or major appliance repair helper positions.

Certificate of Proficiency Building Maintenance
The Certificate of Proficiency in Building Maintenance is an employment ready certificate or can be a component of the Associate of Applied Science Degree in General Technology. This option requires ten credit hours of study and qualifies students for entry level facilities maintenance helper or major appliance repair helper positions.

Technical Certificate in Commercial and Residential Equipment Maintenance and Repair
The Technical Certificate in Commercial and Residential Equipment Maintenance and Repair is both an employment ready certificate and a component of the Associate of Applied Science Degree in General Technology. This option requires thirty one credit hours of study and qualifies students for immediate employment as an entry-level facilities maintenance technicians or major appliance repair technicians.
