The University of Arkansas Hope- Texarkana will be recognizing TRiO Week with special activities throughout the week for students on campus.  National TRiO Day is an opportunity to focus the nation’s attention on the needs of disadvantaged young people and adults aspiring to improve their lives and to become contributing citizens of the country.  On Saturday, February 27, 2016 TRiO Participants and staff will commemorate the 30th Anniversary of TRiO Day by raising awareness about the importance of educational opportunity across the United States.

TRiO Student Support Services at UAHT is providing the following special activities the week of February 22 – 26th.

Monday – Alma Mater Day – (Represent your High School)

Tuesday – Transfer/College Day – (Represent you current, future or dream college)

Wednesday – Work Crush Wednesday – (Dress to impress in your professional wear)

Thursday – Game Day – (Music, Karaoke, Games, and Refreshments in Hope Campus Room AC 134)

The campus student body is invited to the TRiO Office AC 134 to take a picture at the photo booth for and to enter your name in daily drawings for a TRiO Treat.  The Federal TRiO Programs are Federal outreach and student support services programs designed to identify and provide services for individuals from disadvantage backgrounds.  TRiO includes eight programs targeted to serve and assist low-income individuals, first generation college students, and individuals with disabilities to progress through the academic pipeline from middle school to post baccalaureate programs.

The UAHT TRiO Director is Mary White.  White, who began her work at UAHT in 1997, works hard along with her staff to provide student support services for the Hope and Texarkana Campuses.  Please join UAHT this week as it recognizes the difference TRiO makes in the lives of students who utilize these outstanding programs.
