Tubbs Elected as Arkansas Community College’s Board President

T.J. Tubbs, Director of Physical Plant Operations at the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana, has been elected to serve as the 2019 President-elect for the Arkansas Community Colleges (ACC) Board and as President for the year 2020. Tubbs began serving at UAHT in 2012 as a full-time faculty member in the Technical & Industrial Division and became the Director of Physical Plant Operations in 2017. He recently earned a Master of Science in Operations Management Degree from the University of Arkansas Fayetteville is currently working toward a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership.

ACC is a non-profit association representing all twenty-three public community colleges in Arkansas. The Association facilitates the sharing of ideas, resources, and opportunities among its members, and advocates on behalf of members’ students. Tubbs has served as a member of the ACC Board for three years. “As a member of the ACC Board, I have focused my efforts on fundraising for the student leadership academy scholarship, and have been able to raise record-breaking amounts the last two years,” said Tubbs. “I have also been responsible for helping to plan and execute the Annual ACC Conference along with the other board members.”

Each of the twenty-three community colleges has at least one representative from their school serving on the ACC Board. An election among these members is held each year to elect a new president to represent and lead the board. “It is an extraordinary honor to have been selected to not only serve on the ACC board but also to have been elected as board president. As president, I hope to continue creating opportunities for all employees of community colleges in Arkansas to network and grow in their respective areas of service and to help make the mission of ACC possible through our annual conference. ACC is an invaluable resource for community colleges in our state, and the board strives to continue to strengthen that resource.”
