UACCH Fine Arts Club invites the Community to a Theatrical Play on March 11 at 7p.m.
HOPE, AR – The University of Arkansas Community College at Hope would like to invite the public to attend the UACCH Fine Arts Club presentation of The Importance of Being Earnest. The play, set in the late 1800’s in London, England, is a period show, which means the Fine Arts Club is working to make it as authentic as possible to 1895 with the set, props, costumes, etc.
The Importance of Being Earnest is a light-hearted romantic comedy written by Oscar Wilde, basically a story of mistaken identity. Two friends, Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff, are in love with girls of the highest London society. They propose to these women, who believe that both men are named Earnest. The women are dead set on only marrying someone whose name is Earnest. However, the true identities are revealed, and everything comes together happily at the end.
Auditions were held before Christmas, and the cast and crew have been rehearsing since the end of January. The club typically rehearses from 4p.m. to 8p.m. nightly. A wide student representation is in the cast, and the play also stars Mrs. Marian Lloyd, administrative specialist for UAMS. The cast and crew is as follows:
