Rachel Parson
Rachel is a member of the business faculty.
Q: Where are you from and where did you graduate college?
A: Lockesburg, AR. Graduate with Bachelors from A&M Texarkana and Masters from U of A Fayetteville. Also attended first two years of college at CCCUA (now UA Cossatot). Currently working on my second Masters in Communication from Queens University of Charlotte in North Carolina.
Q: Why did you choose education as a career?
A: I have a strong desire to help other people reach their full potential like my teachers and college support staff did for me.
Q: What do you LOVE about your classes at UAHT?
A: The atmosphere of “we are all here for our students” and for no other reason. The students see that in us faculty and empowers them, and empowers us to help them succeed.
Q: What are your favorite hobbies? What do you do to relax?
A: Musician outside of work: (Guitar and vocals-sing at several Opry shows, benefits, gigs with two bands I am a part of, churches). Also love to read, play with my dogs and go shopping with my friends and spending time with my family and friends back in my hometown and doing Zumba and Aerobics at the Gym.
Q: What is your motto for your class?
A: My motto is based on that quote: “Go In the Direction of Your Dreams”. I teach students who are going in several different career fields so I always stress this to them.
Q: What is something you wish you would have known when you were in college? Do you have any advice you want to pass along to students?
A: I limited myself on what career field I could choose in college because of math, I wish I had realized that the help that I later got from TRIO should have been the thing to do at first and I could have not delayed going further to get my Bachelor’s. My advice to students is never limit yourself that is a sure way toward failure or giving up.
Q: What is your favorite snack?
A: Craisins and Trail Mix.

Sherri is a part of the mathematics faculty.
Q: Where are you from and where did you graduate college?
A: Prescott, UALR.
Q: Why did you choose education as a career?
A: I wanted to be a mother and believe it would be great for a mother.
Q: What do you LOVE about your classes at UAHT?
A: Making friends with the students.
Q: What are your favorite hobbies? What do you do to relax?
A: Watching my girls play volleyball, basketball, and show cattle.
Q: What is your motto for your class?
A: For the tardy student: Last one here brings donuts!
Q: What is something you wish you would have known when you were in college? Do you have any advice you want to pass along to students?
A: It is hard to find a balance between work, family, and education.
Q: What is your favorite snack?
A: Ice Cream.
