A. From: Blevins AR College: Red River Tech College for LPN, Texarkana College for ADN-RN, UAMS for Bachelors of Science in Nursing, Walden University for my Masters of Science in Nursing
Q. Why did you choose education as a career?
A. While working at Hospital, I was able to share nursing skills with students who visited my area. I loved seeing the excitement as students learned a new skill. This experience lead me to where I am today.
Q. What do you LOVE about your classes at UAHT?
A. I love seeing the difference that a technical certificate can make in the lives of students. UAHT views every student as someone with potential. The Practical Nursing degree gives students a new identity as “a nurse” and gives them the leverage they need find financial stability. It changes their lives. Now, that is something to love about UAHT!
Q. What are your favorite hobbies? What do you do to relax?
A. Spending time with family. Watching my kids play sports. Camping. Crafts. I enjoy making handmade cards. Coloring.
Q. What is your motto for your class?
A. If it doesn’t challenge you it won’t change you.
Q. What is something you wish you would have known when you were in college? Do you have any advice you want to pass along to students?
A. Stay focused! Even when times get hard, keep pushing forward. Use the obstacles in life as steps you climb on to get to the top.

Q. Where are you from and where did you graduate college?
A. I am from “Central Arkansas”, graduated from UACCH – Funeral Services here in Hope. Received my bachelor’s & master’s degree from U of A at Fayetteville.
Q. Why did you choose education as a career?
A. I continued my education career so I could teach this program.
Q. What do you LOVE about your classes at UAHT?
A. I love seeing my students experience the “Ah ha” moments! And, I have the front row seat to celebrate that moment with them. How cool is that?!
Q. What are your favorite hobbies? What do you do to relax?
A. My past hobbies included hiking, mountain climbing, camping, listening to music, traveling and scuba diving around the world. Due to a recent motor vehicle accident, I have had to scale down my activity. However, I still enjoy the simple things in life.
Q. What is your motto for your class?
A. “Statistically, success happens if you build your life around the Funeral Service Program. Obstacles always get in the way of your goals if you attempt to build this program around your life. Do this for a little while, graduate, pass the national board exam and then go make the big bucks!”
Q. What is something you wish you would have known when you were in college? Do you have any advice you want to pass along to students?
A. I wished I would have realized that teachers are human too. Seems a bit ridiculous but I had placed a teacher on such a high pedestal and believed this individual was perfect. When I had to accept the opposite of what I made them out to be, there was a tremendous letdown. Through a more mature set of eyes, I can see clearly now. Hence why I believe it is important to be transparent and intentional in “everything” we participate in. There is a big force in this world that does not want you to succeed. Step out in faith and stay focused anyways. Because there is a bigger force that wants to see you soar! Focus on the mission and achieve your goals!
Q. What is your favorite snack?
A. Chocolate covered strawberries
