The University of Arkansas Community College at Hope recently held a reception for the Blue & You Foundation site visit and check presentation.  The Blue and You Foundation for a Healthier Arkansas awarded the UACCH Foundation $48,736 to purchase a pediatric manikin simulator and maintenance/replacement parts for the college’s birthing simulator.

“Our grants this year went to programs across the state that address such issues as nutrition and exercise, dental and mental health, and medical professional education,” said Patrick O’Sullivan, executive director of the Blue & You Foundation. O’Sullivan recently toured the UACCH Nursing Simulation lab where he got to see first-hand the improvements to the nursing simulation lab funded with grant proceeds.  The UACCH Nursing Simulation laboratory plays a key role in providing students hands-on experience with countless medical scenarios.

Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield established the Blue & You Foundation in 2001 as a charitable foundation to promote better health in Arkansas. The Blue & You Foundation awards grants annually to non-profit or governmental organizations and programs that positively affect the health of Arkansans.

In its 12 years of operation, the Blue & You Foundation has awarded nearly $19 million to 423 health improvement programs in Arkansas.
