This semester  the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope has 10 Prescott High School Seniors pursuing a technical certificate in certified nursing assistant (CNA). These CNA students are gaining real college experiences that will provide them with employment opportunities upon completion of the program which coincides with their graduation from high school.  Not only do they look sharp but, these students are doing an awesome job in this program by faithfully attending classes at UACCH Monday through Thursday. During this semester students are spending time in the lab practicing the skills they are learning in the classroom with instructors Tisha Patterson and Ainslee Lee.  Multiple visits to the nursing home providing direct patient care during the CNA program supply invaluable clinical experiences that will shape their lives indefinitely.

In addition, UACCH Nursing and CNA instructor are working closely to pair up the CNA students with a practical nursing- college student to teach them nursing experiences in the simulation lab they might not gain in the nursing home. Health Professions Dean Laura Clark shares, “UACCH is proud to be a part of these high school seniors early career in nursing.  We have high expectations for their future in the health field.”
